THE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

September Meeting, 1975.

The September meeting of the Horticultural Society
met with Flora and Harry Goff at beautiful Mt. Pleasant
on Tuesday the 2nd of September, 1975.

The guests included our hosts' daughter Bonnie and
her children, and Mrs. Seiler's aunt Mrs. Crowde from
Denver.

After a delicious supper our President, Robert Miller,
called the meeting to order. The minutes of last month's
meeting were read and approved.

Flora delighted us by reading from the early Horticultural
minutes, for the founding year 1863. This means

beside the hostess were Cornelia Stabler, Margaret Brooke,
Henry Hallowell, Roger, Granville and Ellen Farquhar.
Henry Hallowell acted as foreman and Ellen Farquhar as
secretary. The Society was to have 12 members, meet once
each month from February to November, at 4 p.m. Poultry
was to be included as well as horticulture. Even at the
organization meeting there was a discussion of hot beds,
cabbage beds, grape vines and garden seeds; also whether
to plow in the Fall or in the Spring (Fall plowing was
preferred). Seeds were distributed. The minutes read included
the March meeting at Brooke Grove, The April meeting
at Olney, May at The Cedars, June at Sharon, July at Falling
Green
