H/9/1976 - 1-

THE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
September 1976.

The Horticultural Society met for its September,
1977 [1976?], meeting with Caroline and Buzz Hussman at Roslyn
on Tuesday, the 7th of September, We were delighted to
have with us our former members Rose and Bea Hutton. Claire
was away somewhere on a trip.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and were
approved as corrected.

There was unfinished business to be attended to,
consisting of the taking of a vote on the proposed revision
of Section 6 of Horticultural's by-laws to provide
for a standing committee on membership to be appointed
at the time of the election of officers every
two years. This proposed revision embraces a restatement
in detail of the functions and duties of the membership
committee, and was read to the members of the Horticultural
at the last previous meeting which was held at
The Highlands with Bob and Mary Reading Miller. An additional
feature is the inclusion in Section 6 of the provision
that members of the Horticultural who resign may be
voted on to become honorary members who may attend meetings
but need not entertain. Upon the taking of the vote
the revision was approved unanimously. A copy of the revised
Section 6 is attached to these minutes.

Bill Hartge was the Reader for this meeting. He read
an instructive article from the September, 1976, "Organic
Gardening" which told of a Georgia man who grows and sells
