sanitation in Olney, and wonders if there is any thing that can be done about it. Mr. Beane says to report it to the Health Dept & they will see that the proper thing is done. Mr. Johns makes a motion a letter be written to Health Dept. asking them to investigate the tanks in Olney. sec. by Mr. Miller carried. Mr. Muir invites us to his home for the next meeting. Aafter thanking Mr. Muir Mr. Beane says he feels we should not meet at private homes. We will hold the Aug. meeting at the Old Wheelwright shop in Olney. The sec. is asked to write a letter to Mr. Savage asking him to cut down the shrubbery in the corner of his field at the end of Balto. road.

Mr. Johns says the trucks hauling old oil cans from garages drop them along highway & he will speak to the garage men asking the haulers to be more careful. Mr. McLaury says they are dumping these old cans in the woods back of his place. Mr. Johns will attend to this matter

Mr. Beane made a protest against the fast running of loaded trucks and he makes a motion we write a letter to the police dept. asking them to check on same sec carried.

Mrrs. Whitlock read a copy of a letter which she had sent to the Co. Com. protesting the dismissal of Chief Orme, also the reply which states that the chief had been removed before receipt of letter. Also, a copy of the letter written to Park & Planning com regarding road stands and a letter was read from Mr. Slates sec. of Manor Club thanking us for the letter written regarding making their main entrance safe for traffic. Quite a bit has been done to make the entrance safer.

Mr. English intro. Mr. John Daley who talked about the case of Chief Orme. He summed his talk up with the statement that he felt Mr. Orme had been treated unfairly not being allowed counsel or to hear any of the witnesses & in no way being able to defend himself. Adj.

The regular monthly meeting of the Citizen's Association was called to order by the first vice pres. Mr. Mahlon Kirk II at 8:15 P.M. in the old wheel wright shop in Olney. Minutes read and with one correction were adopted. Letters were read from the State Roads Commission written to Mr. Beane regarding "Stop signs" at Manor Club center marking of roads, & fixing of shoulders from Silver Spring to Brookeville. Some of the work has already been done and the center marking will be taken care of in the near future as the marking machine is in use in Western Md. at the present time Mr. Beane the only member of his committee went before the Co. Com. about road stands. They said the zoning had just been completed and was up before engineers for approval but they felt the stands were operating illegally and that they would investigate them immediately and have then closed if they were not operating under the law. The chairman of the Co. Com. said they would refer the investigation

of sanitation in Brookeville and Olney to the Health Dept. & they promised it would be attended to at once.

Mrs. Whitlock read a copy of a letter which she had written t the Health Dept., also their reply which said they had no personnel to make personal inspections but that if we made a specific report of individual cases they would check on same and have it rectified. She also wrote to Mr. Savage with no reply. She had a reply to her letter written to Police Dept. protesting fast running of loaded trucks, saying the chief had instructed his force to check on the matter. Mr. Burns moves we meet at Manor Club in the winter and at Brooke John's Barn in summer, sec. After much discussion it was decided to table the motion until next meeting which will be at the Manor Club.

The regular monthly meeting of the Citizen's Association was held at the Manor Club Wed. Nov. 27 The meeting was called to order by the Pres. Mr. English at 8.15 with 12 present.

Minutes read & adopted.

Treas. reported Mrs. Parker had told him of a very bad place in the road between Olney & Brookeville Mrs. Kimmel feels we should urge the straightening of this road. The letter which Mr. Beane will write to State Roads Commission will consist of the foregoing suggions also having something done with the curve on State Road below Aspen. He will also contact the Co. Commissioners concverning work needed on Bachelor Forest Road. Mrs. Whitlock reported the Rouzer property is not available for the Housing Project. So far none of the money provided for this has been used
