Plainfield 2nd month 26th 1863

On the day appointed for the meeting of the
Association last month, a drifting snowstorm
made the day so unsuitable for women to be out
that no one attended. We had been invited to
Lea's Mill instead of Springdale, and it was afterward
concluded to consider the meeting having
been held, and pass onto the next member.

To-day according to previous arrangement between
D. A. Lea and H. J. Moore, we assembled here, and
by invitation to dinner instead of supper. The weather
was unfavorable, being rainy, and the roads bad, but
there were 9 members and several guests present,
beside a number of gentlemen to dinner: soon after
which proceedings commenced. After the minutes were read,

L. G. Thomas was first called, and read an article on the
beauties and pleasures of winter.

2nd. E. D. Bentley read several extracts: "On the Power of Gentleness"
"The Perils of Philanthropy" and "Too much Reading"
