doing good - this is the divine scheme of education,
for it is the divine scheme of the redemption
of the world.

Virginia Holland Steer. "What constitutes a happy
home" which brought forth much expression and
many experiences in regard to bringing up children.

Sarah B. Farquhar. A Quaker Poem
by one not a Friend which showed the practical
side of religion.

I gather from Eliza Farquhar's article, that everything
about us is elevated and refined, if the
spirit's eye and ear are kept-sensitive and
alive to catch the hidden meanings that underlie
the most ordinary objects and events of
life. The voice of God, the "still small voice" is
speaking everywhere, leading the willing listener
up to Himself, and making all things stepping
stones, rounds in the Bethel ladder that
reaches from the dark, cold clods of earth and
its perishing, blossoms, up to the radiant land
where leaves never wither, and unfading flowers
make glad the eyes of the redeemed.

S.E. Stabler. The First Cricket by H.W. Howells.

E.G. Thomas. Deaf to Know. A new
kind of deafness, such as will not listen
to what ought not to be heard.

Sarah T. Miller. Selected lines from Friends
Intelligencer, "While We May"

S.B. Lea. A Poetical Sermon and a [clu?]ginous
vacation.
