Dear Father,

Nelson H. Bell wishes
to borrow for the use of R. Hall McCormick,
son of Leander McCormick, who is a brother
of Cyrus H. — and the active man in the
present Reaper Manufq. establisment -
Thy pamphlet giving the history of reaping
and mowing machines in this country, &c. -

His object is to write a history
of the Reaping & mowing machines and
wishes the correct data from its earliest
history so that he may do justice to
Obed Hussey. McCormick has heard
of the book and refered Bell to Sands
and Sands sent him to me.

Bell was formerly from Frostbury.
Thee may know him. —

All well. Thy affect' son
E. Stabler Jr.

His lower case "k" is very similar to his "h", but seems a bit more pointed compared to the more-rounded "h".
There was a Wm B Sands, Publisher, in 1880 Baltimore. If he had published Stabler's pamphlet, it would make sense that McCormick referred Bell to him, the publisher, and then Sands referred Bell to the author, Stabler.
Obed Hussey was from Baltimore and the inventor of "the celebrated reaper and mower bearing his name." He was killed in Exeter, NH in 1860.
