Alexandria 6th month 14 1843

Dear Cousin

Bernard Hooe, clerk of our Orphan's
Court called on me for information in relation to thy seal
Engraving, prices etc. Wilt thou please to answer this by the return
of mail, and inform me what is the price of the cheapest
seal + [prep?] for the Orphan's Court. Alexandria County D.C. The design
to be left to thyself. In thy answer if thee could mention the
design, it would be satisfactory. The [Levy?] Court makes the
appropriation; B.H. thinks it best to ascertain the cheapest price,
in the hope that the court will make the appropriation + have the
seal executed.

B. Hooe would like to know thy price also for a very plain seal
with this inscription, Bernard Hooe, Notary Public, Alex-- County. D.C.
Some simple design as a hand open or something else which would
not cost much to Engrave the seal to be about 1 1/2 inches, diameter.

Thy answer to the above by the next mail would
oblige thy affectionate cousin
Henry Stabler

The price of a cheap [press?] for B.H. also.
Perhaps thee can sell him a [press?].

[No 1?] [Prep?], seal, case [H?] $150
[No 2?] [Prep?] $50 ditto seal $45-
[No 1?]. Seals from 10 to $25-

I hope thy health is again restored entirely. Mary Lea has
been very sick for about 4 weeks, but is now mending fast. She
has recovered so far as to be able to ride out. I expect to
take her to Walnut Hill the last of this or the first of next
week. Love to Cousin Nancy-- H.S.
