there was a Federal gunboat
in the river evidently waiting for us,
& that we should get up the
Okolahoha river toward Ocala.
We intended to stop at Picolata for
the night get a beef & some hogs
& also Potatoes. & I had hopes of
getting permission from our Captain
to go as far as Mr. J. Lees & then
perhaps receive some intelligence
from home. This of course was
all now knocked in the head.
& we went back to Walakia
where we camped for the night.

April 23. This morning finds us
here, but no breakfast, as our
provisions are now out most of us
