Tuesday 13. To day I took a walk through
the town. It is a very pretty place
very wide streets & large houses &
a great many stores, machine shops
factories &c but things are very dear
for a common calico shirt we had to pay
$2 ½ for pants 4-5$C. The weather
is very hot, the air very sultry. To-
morrow we shall leave again on route
for Corinth I suppose. The Telegraph announced
that the iron ship Virginia has been
blown up by the Confederates, Norfolk
evactuated. Some comp. of our Reg. left
to day with the cars.
Wednesday, May 14. Left Columbus geo.
