Thursday Aug 21. Started again this morning
& marched about 3 miles further where we cam-
ped & now we are to wait until our camp & cooking
utensils shall come. A portion of Gen. Buell's
arma is reported about 20 miles from Ch. & we
might get into a fight anytime. The road is
lined with troops but all are very poorly provided
with cooking utensils.

Friday August 22. On guard today. Feel rather
feverish. There seems to bad prospects of our cooking
utensils coming for they canot get transportation
two Federals pickets or scouts are reported being
caught last night, but I guess it is “camp news”
was considerable amused at a letter written
by somebody from our Reg. to the “Fla Sentinell”
describing our journey from Mobile to Chattanooga.
It read very smooth & splendid, but of all
the hardships we had to undergo, not one word
was said. How we had slept on board that ship!
