Thursday
This morning it was the same. At three oclock we had
to get up & at four to fall in, & now it is nearly
daylight & we are still waiting with our load on, o shame.
At last we got of & were often stoped on the road & till
noon had not made much headway, when
we halted at the foot of an other large mountain.
After resting some time we were started again
up the mountain. I was detailed with some others
to help the wagon which had the medicines & some
knapsacks belonging to the sick in it. It took
us a long time to get up. But at last reached
the road was bad, & about 9 oclock at last came to
camps, which were the same that had been used
by the Federals a few days ago. Some men are reported
being shot by bushwackers by them [?] & one Liut Col
was taken prisoner by a boy C. not more
than 16 years of age. [Memisville?] is eva-
cuated & tomorrow we shall have a march of
