from his Sister, stating that several of the
ladies of St. Augustine are under arrest she among
the number. My dear wife sent me a messagge
that she would leave in a few days would go north.
Well the Lords will be done.
Monday Sept 15. We were in camp till about 12
oclock & we expected to stay all day & have a gen. inspection
when the order was countermanded & the order to march
was given at two oclock. This was changed again
to four oclock. The news came to came to camp
before we started the the Feds had killed out of one
of our Brig. 200 men at Mumfresville Ky. they
had three Brig. Afterwards we heard that this was
done by a mistake by our own cavalry. About
three oclock we got off. We were but a short way
from the camp when it began to rain hard.
We were all wet through & the road got very bad
being all clay it was so slippery that with difficulty
