Saladin in 1198, and the walls again repaired in 1219. A.D.
Again they were demolished here by the Sultan of Damascus
Hamel Abdel Madi Mooddin, in 1239. Christians under a
treaty with Fredrick IId began to rebuild the walls, but
were interrupted by David of Herok, who cast down the
newly erected walls. In 1243, the “Franks” regained the
city and again commenced to rebuild, but Jerusalem
with all of Syria passed under rule of the Turkish
Sultan Selim.

In 1599 AD. The present walls were erected by Suliman
successor of Selim. In 1832 Jerusalem with Syria
passed into possesion of Mohomet Pasha of Egypt.
The Holy City opening its gates to Ibrahim his son
without a seige. The European powers interfered
and restored Jerusalem to the Turks in 1840 AD.
