This hut has the Tossut or tunnelled
entry at least ten feet long very low, straight,
and level until you reach the inner
part of the chamber when it rises abruptly
by a msall hole - which admits you with
some squeezing into the true appartment -
over this entrance is a rude window - with
scraped walrus intestines in lieu of glass.
This was heavily coated with frost but
a small eye hole commanding the bay
gave them the advantages of inspection as
as well as of conversation with those outside
- a smoke hole stood over the
passing through the roof.

Now when all the family - Morton and
Hans were gathered together and the
two lamps in full blaze - and the
