Pacific Grove June 16, 1904.
To the Pacific Grove Retreat Association
Brethren,
I have to report an uneventful year in the
trust imposed on me. It has been a year of marked
growth in Pacific Grove, the place is rapidly expan-
ding to the proportions of a city; and with the growth,
there is an intensifying of many general prob-
lems, but at the same time there has transpired
little to call for my special attention.
I have to note [the] gratification the construction at
last of a modern bath house to be read for the sea-
son's business, and with scarcely less satisfaction the
erection of a [store] bank building and other sub-
stantial business structures. It is a far cry
from the first [tents] to some of the pretentious buil-
dings of the main street today.
