liamson Geo D. Kellog F.L. Buck W.W. Case JW.

The following report was read by HB Heacock.
The most important event of the year was the
death of Rev. Wesley [Dennett] DD one of our Directors.
After a distressing illness he quietly and peacefully passed away
early the 9th [Just]. Though a member but a short time he
has always been a good friend of the Grove. For 39 years a mem-
ber of the Conference and part of the time Presiding Elder, it was
during his administration the first pastor was sent to the
Grove. I recommend that a Committee be appointed to con-
vey our appreciation of his service and sympathy for his family
in their great loss.
The application of the first Baptist Church for a permit
to erect a house of worship on their lot on 4th St and Lau-
rel Ave was carefully considered by President French
F.L. Buck Wesley Dennett and myself and granted.
We hardly knew whether we should act on it or not but
there seemed to be an emergency. If it meet your ap-
proval I suggest that you ratify the action.
Could you not make some provision for action by the Execu-
tive Committee in the interim of our annual meeting?
Emergencies sometimes arise which it is important to meet
promptly. And [then] such occurred during the year but we
declined to take any action.
