The destruction by fire of the stables by fire on Grand Ave-
nue has led to the opening of [that] thoroughfare to the
betterment of the City.

Some questions are arising as to business permits on the
property South of Light House Ave between Forest Ave
and fifteenth st. I have some recollection that this por-
tion of the Grove was set apart for business, but I do
not find any [?] fit in our minutes. The ques-
tion will probably come up for consideration & I should
like any information you may have on it.

(At the meeting where this report was read Mr. H.E. Wil-
liamson said he remembered distinctly that in the
early days the section mentioned above was set apart
by the Pacific Improvement Company.)

Some months ago a suit was commenced by the
attorney for the First Baptist Church to quiet [?].
A copy of the [case] was served to me. As your repre-
sentative, I immediately forwarded it to President
French who said it was of [?] grave interest, [?] [?]
in which it stood. In connection with President
French I called on Mr. W.H. Crocker and J.C. Platt
head men in the PI. Co. in reference to the [S???].
They both assured us of their intention to give the
subject immediate attention. Henry French was
made one of the attorneys of record in the case.
In consultation with the attorney in the suit it was
destinctly stated that the meaning we had placed on [the]
purpose & agreed to such modifications as [we] required.
I have not heard what has been done in the case, but
feel assured on [?] [we'll] be protected. I am sure the
P.I. Co will stand by their agreement with us in the care
