Pacific Grove Retreat Association

Origin & 1st Meeting A meeting of several persons previously notified was held at the Howard St Methodist Episcopal Church in the city of San Francisco on Tuesday June 1st 1875 at Nine O.clock A.M.

1st Trustees Of the persons invited to attend the following named were present.. 'viz' Rev Geos Clifford of Alameda, Rev J. W. Ross of Alameda, Rev O Gibson of San Francisco. Rev H.B. Heacock of Stockton. Rev G. O. Ash of Salinas. Rev E. S. Todd of San Jose, Rev F. F. Jewell of San Francisco. J. W. H. Campbell of San Francisco and G. F. Baker of San Francisco.

J A Clayton of San Jose and A. Gallatin of Sacramento were not present, but conveyed through written and oral communications to the meeting their willingness to co-operate in the movement contemplated.

All the above named persons consented and agreed to become the first board of trustees of the Pacific Grove Retreat Association.

Bishop J. T. Peck being present was invoked to preside and took the chair.
