all things are measured that have measure. By means of geometry
one can know the course of the stars, which are always
moving, and the size of the firmament, the
sun, the moon, and the earth. By means of geometry
one can know the truth of all things and the size
of all things, however far away they may be,
so long as one can see or distinguish them with the naked eye. The person who
understands geometry well sees the role of measurement in all
skillful endeavors. For the world was made by measurement and
so were all other things -- high, low, and in the depths.

The sixth of the
seven arts
is music, which is
formed out of arithmetic.
From this art of music
comes all moderation.
And from it comes a kind
of medicine. For just
as music brings into harmony
all things that are discordant,
