"Water" here is the deep sea,
which encircles the world. From this sea
come the rivers that flow on the earth, and run in their courses
in such a way that in the end they come back to the sea from which they
had started. In this way the sea is constantly circulating and
flowing. As it takes its course this way, since it is lighter than the earth
it keeps close to the earth but stays just above it. It divides
and separates the lands and expands through all the places
of the earth. It flows into the sea and expands through
the rivers, and rises out of the earth in various places and veins,
