all faults are wiped away.
MAN: Alas, poor me! I
had lost hope, lost confidence, had given up
in spirit, my spirit had been shattered
in almost despair, my spirit
had nearly fallen. Now I have returned to hope, now
I have regained confidence, I already have the hope of forgiveness,
I hope in piety,
I do not doubt the goodness of God, I will now dwell
in hope, God's piety raised me to hope,
it gave me hope for life and repentance.
Therefore, if God looks out for me, if
he comes to my aid, if he helps me to fulfill
what I desire, this I have
decided to do, this I have determined, this is fixed in my
mind, this cannot be torn from my mind.
