Friday Feb 5?

Dear family,
I've heard the result for Law School acceptances
are out (at least from Stanford), What happened
with Steve? I sure hope he got in.

Well I suppose you have heard about the tragedy
in Rome ^(12)? Lee Irish the son of Prof. (of religion) Irish
& wife died suddenly of a rare case of meningitis.
The last time this happened in Mex. I learned something -
I guess that it happens. The Irishes are tremendous
people - also have a son Jeff (10?). Its hard for them
but they are very strong people.

We were told by Stanford to cut our stay in Italy
short and to come back here to the Burg. A lot of people
have colds & or flus (Also many had before Rome). Many
are psychological I'm sure. Anyway vacationing is exhausting
and they want us to rest and be together for a few days.
The type of menengitis is a very rare one and does not,
luckily, go in groups. It is a type of bacteria everyone or many
people have and what happens is it gets someplace accessible
to the spine - like I said it is very rare and not contagious.
I have and do feel very healthy. I hope you haven't
heard exagerated stories of a plague or something. All is
OK.

I'm sending Betty a postcard about Rome. You
will hear I really loved it. Especially the ice cream and,
expresso believe it or not. It tasted better than I've ever
had.

I got your 2 letters and 2 boxes of candy. Why the box
marked "for Krauter family"? I don't understand. Anway
thanks very much again for all the communication & candy.
It was great arriving to a full mailbox. Also tremendous candy.

Tell me more about Patty. How did the biopsy go?
The office situation sounds nicht so gut. I hope all turns out
alright.

I think Dad's idea of a red cake per person sounds
pretty reasonable. Jeez Louise. That's kind of gross.
Congrats to Joe & Dad on wt. What about you Mom?
Kung! I shouldn't talk. Did Jim Lange accept or not?
I sure wish I could have been be there.
