Tuesday 27 Feb Dear Mom and Dad,
I have made the decision right now to go on a real diet and become skinny. I am really psyched. I think I can do it. I'll tell Frau Krauter no or only 1 piece of Kuchen when I visit. I'm going to do it. Jack Nicklaus did it. Joe did it. I can do it. How's yours going? Save this letter. I'll hate myself if I can't do it. Go Anne!
Next weekdn, which is a 4-day weekend, I'm going to stay here and study. Originally there was going to be a field trip to East Germany but it fell through. Then there was going to be a organized [trip?] to ski near Innsbruck. But many who signed up dropped out. Reservations + commitments were made - had to have 40 people. Pretty thoughtless of those who dropped out. The teacher, Herr [Raaty?], who organized it was really mad. In a way I'm glad its off. I can sure use the time to study.
You can lend the T-shirt [Mei?] gave me to Betty if she would like it. Probly she can have it. She said shed like to have it.
How's sudden Sam? I'm going to be skinny. I'm writing alot of letters these days. Who would like a Swiss army knife? Send me the list if people want them. I wrote Sue Sanchey. I got the address the first time. Thanks for getting it. I've got a cold and a runny nose and I gotta go potty.

Hi Leroy, [Smeltz?] + Sahib. Nice duag, kitty, and hoess. Is Steve's thesis getting done? Did I tell you Mary has a new boyfriend? Yes I did. Bruce Smyth is the most negative person I know. Kind of like Mr. Solt. He always mad at something. HE's kind of a jerk. Over 3-week break he, Bob, Amy + I are driving to Greece. I hope all goes well. I'm going to be nice. This is a dumb letter.
I remember how Grandma Longbeach would write tee-hee or Ha ha after something funny. Am I remembering right? This letter reminds me of that. Is Dad crushing Jerry McNiel as usual? I would think so.
Is Joe bicycling + keeping in shape? I hope by the time you get this you have written about the Golden [Bog?/Bag?] Invitational. I wonder if it came off. Did Dad make it? I mean did Dad win?
