Description

John Garber (1833-1908) was a lawyer who established law practices, alternating between California and Nevada, and briefly serving on the Nevada Supreme Court. He served as the lead counsel chosen by Jane Lathrop Stanford to defend the Estate of Leland Stanford from a $15 million lawsuit brought in 1895 by the Justice Department that threatened the future of Stanford University. The lawsuit was won in favor of the Estate.
