Olive F. Risley Seward (1844-1908) was adopted in 1870, at age 26, by William Henry Seward, U.S. Secretary of State from 1861 to 1869 and former Governor of and Senator from New York. Olive wrote two books describing travels around the world with Secretary Seward.
