John Julius Halsey (1848-1919) was a Professor at Lake Forest University in Lake Forest, IL, from 1878 until his death. He held appointments as Professor of Rhetoric and English, English Literature and Political Science, and Political and Social Science. In the 1901-1902 academic year he was given a leave of absence to serve as acting head of the Department of Economics and Political Science at Stanford.
