Description

Jacob Richard Leese (1839-1912) was Monterey County Clerk, a deputy sheriff, and became postmaster of Salinas and Monterey. His father, Jacob Primer Leese, was the second permanent settler in San Francisco (then Yerba Buena) in 1836. His mother was Maria Rosalia Vallejo, the sister of General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo.
