Description

Othniel Charles Marsh (1831-1899) was Professor of Paleontology at Yale College and President of the National Academy of Sciences. Marsh discovered many extinct species including many dinosaurs, birds and their ancestors, while also accumulating evidence to support Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. He served as trustee and curator of the Peabody Museum of Natural History which had been donated to Yale by Marsh's uncle, George Peabody.
