Description

Josiah "Joe" Winslow Stanford (1864-1937), son of Leland Stanford's brother Josiah Stanford, Jr. (1817-1890) and Helen M. Stanford (1830-1909). Joe's half-sisters were Agnes Stanford Taylor (1846-1906) and Gertrude "Gertie" Stanford (1856-1950). He was appointed as a Trustee of Stanford University on April 29, 1896, and resigned on May 31, 1898. He managed the Stanford Winery in Warm Springs after his father's death and finally sold it in 1923, moving to a house in Piedmont.
