Description

Harry Claude Peterson (1876-1941) was born in Iowa, raised in Palo Alto. He became the Director and Curator of the Stanford University Museum of Fine Arts in 1899, serving in that position until 1918. He served on the Palo Alto City Council for eight years. After leaving Stanford he was Director of Field Research for the California History Department of the California State Library, California history feature writer for the Oakland Tribune, and the curator of Sutter's Fort Museum in Sacramento.
