Mary Catherine (Meany) Puckett (1836-1901) was born in Ireland, moved to Canada at age 18 and was a teacher there for 10 years, then in 1864 moved to California and was a teacher in Petaluma. In 1867 she married Edward Harrison Puckett (1833-1907) and in 1869 her only child, Alfred J. Puckett (1869-1926) was born.
