Harriot "Hallie" Washington (Parks) Tallmadge (1848-1940) was the great grand-niece of U.S. President George Washington and at the time of her death was his closest living relative. She was born in West Virginia, was the second wife of Theodore Wood Tallmadge (1827-1904) whom she married in 1867. They lived in Columbus, Ohio, for the first several years, where he had a successful business as a pension lawyer. In 1878 he relocated his main office to Washington, D.C., and the family moved there. After her husband's death Mrs. Tallmadge moved to Kenton, Maryland, where she died.
