Bessie Champion (Lathrop) Rowell (1856-1885) was the daughter of Paoli Lathrop (1797-1872) and Elizabeth Brewster (Champion) Lathrop (1818-1895). Bessie died at age 29 and it was her mother, Elizabeth, who maintained a correspondence with Charles G. Lathrop and Jane Lathrop Stanford regarding Lathrop family genealogy. Both Lathrop families were descended from Samuel Lothrop (1622-1700) and Elizabeth Scudder Lothrop (1625-1690).
