Description

Elizabeth Lathrop Rowell (1882-1985) was the daughter of Timothy Bryant Rowell (1845-1916) and Bessie Champion (Lathrop) Rowell (1856-1885). Her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Brewster (Champion) Lathrop (1818-1895), maintained a correspondence with Charles G. Lathrop and Jane Lathrop Stanford regarding Lathrop family genealogy. Elizabeth, the granddaughter, graduated from West Springfield High School, then attended Mount Holyoke College from 1899 to 1904, majoring in French. She was a teacher at Riverdale Street School in Westfield, Massachusetts, from 1907 to 1911 and worked in the Westfield assessor's office from 1911 until 1951 when she retired.
