Albert Pruden Carman (1861-1946) was Professor of Theoretical Physics at Stanford University from 1892 to 1896. Before coming to Stanford he was a Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering at Purdue University from 1888 to 1892. In 1896 he was offered to head the Physics department at the University of Illinois at Champaign, a position he held until retiring in 1929.
