Mrs John A Logan

Mary Simmerson (Cunningham) Logan (1838-1923) was the wife of Civil War Union General, Congressman, and Senator John A. Logan (1826-1886), who was the vice-presidential running mate of Republican James G. Blaine in the 1884 presidential election won by Grover Cleveland. Mrs. Logan had always been deeply involved in her husband's campaigns and after her husband's death she travelled throughout Europe and on her return became editor of "The Home Magazine", from 1888 to 1908 in Washington. She contributed to other magazines and newspapers and also wrote several books, using the pen name "Mrs John A. Logan".
