Anna L. Dawes

Anna Laurens Dawes (1851-1938) was the daughter of Henry Laurens Dawes (1816-1903), U.S. Senator and Representative from Massachusetts. She was a writer and a suffragist. In addition to writing for newspapers and magazines she published several books. Dawes was her father's private secretary when he was in Washington. She belonged to many women's groups, was a trustee of Smith College, and was on the boards of the Chicago Columbian Exposition of 1892 and St. Louis Exposition of 1902.
