13 Ave Mac. Mahon
Paris Aug. 23d, 1892.

Dear Mrs. Stanford;

This morning the San
Francisco Evening Buletin
of Aug, 4th brought me the
sad news of your sister's
going home. Our hearts go
out in sympathy with you
in your great sorrow. Wave
after wave go over us, storm
after storm beat upon
us on this sea of human
life, but our Lord is in
every ship upon which we ^sail
