pointment with her.

that was eulogistic about

man - I remember so well
when the admiral & myself
met him on two or three
occasions, at your recep-
tions and were charmed
by his great simplicity
& sincerity of manner &
character & felt that we
would like to have known
him better - I felt that
he was one in whom one

might put the utmost
confidence. I felt so
grateful to him for the
promise he gave me that
he would take my Pension
papers in September &
I felt so sure, that if he
did take them, he would
have no trouble to have
the bill passed - well
never mind that God
knows best. I feel as
grateful to him as if
it had been done.
