My dear Mrs. Stanford,
When I heard of the death of your noble husband, my heart went out to you in your great sorrow. At a time like this when we are robbed of those we love, words are useless, but you have the Sacred Heart of our kind and loving Savior, who alone can comfort and sus tain you under this heavy cross.
You know yourself what
your beloved husband possessed in an eminent degree, and that sweet charity with which he dispensed so generously, will, I trust, be his bright reward in his only true home.
It would not be out of place to call your attention to something which perhaps, has escaped your notice. Your angelic son died on June 21, the day on which we, Catholics, keep the Feast of St. Aloysius, the patron of students.
