of your dear husband - his duties and cares were great then - but life was full of hope - and you were surrounded by all that made life complete. - the years have gone on- they seemed so long to look forward to them. but how short few as we look back upon them - you have both realized those hopes in a magnificent degree yet sorrow came to you both. My dear Mrs Stanford
We know how feeble words are in this moment of your intense grief but we feel we must express our sympathy to one who has always shown us the greatest kindness. May our sweet Savior whom you so tenderly love soften your heavy trial and may you find comfort in His wounded Heart where alone time peace and rest is to be found. Sorrow brings us very near to God and proves how transient

are the joys of this world. If borne in the proper spirit it raises us above this material world and makes us long to be at rest in the home of eternal love. We have prayed for you, dear Mrs Stanford, also our dear little children, that God may strengthen you in this your hour of affliction, but we know that with your truly Christian spirit you have bowed in patient resignation to the Divine Will which rules and order[s] all things.
Hoping that we may soon have the pleasure of seeing you. I am yours in truest sympathy
