that is only to be found in that everlasting peace, which the world cannot give, or take away, "I will not leave you comfortless" were the blessed words of the Master, He spoke them to His sorrowing disciples of old, and they are just as full of meaning now to those who are broken hearted, it is only in resignation to the Divine will, and the hope of a glorious resurrection that peace and comfort can be found, may you indeed experience this, and find rest and solace, in the precious promise, and the blessed hope of soon meeting again your beloved ones, who have gone home in advance of you;

you will forgive the lone old widow woman who tries to pen this to you for I can only feel to write I am in a lonely old [house, place ?] by the shore now all alone in the world all but an old Cousin a maiden poor & old like myself wee [sic] pick Beries for a living but now canot [sic] se [sic] to pick as y [sic easy] did a year ago on acount [sic] of my blindnes [sic] oh dear Mrs Stanford do send me a Sanfrancisco paper now & then It will be a great comfort to me here in my lonely life Canot nor am able to send out there to

I am so sorry for you. No one feels more than I do for you. Your husband like our dear Mrs Charles Crocker was to [sic] good to suffer the pain of death for my dear friend. I know what it is. 2 or 3 times I & those around me thought I was dying when I am suffering untold agony. I beg to die & yet when I thought my time had come I was astonished
