Moreover, I have so often
heard you most lovingly
spoken of by friends of mine,
and have so often been prom-
ised the pleasure of meeting
you, that your great afflic-
tion comes home to me, as

of friendship. Since hear-
ing the sad news, I have
been asking God's loving mer-
cy for his soul, at the
Altar and in my prayers,
and begging for your God's
own consolations, the
consolations of Faith and
Hope and Love, in your
crushing bereavement. May
indeed "the Father of Mer-
cies and the God of all
consolation, who comfort-
eth us in all our tribu-
