Untitled Page 19

Golden Gate

Fresno, June 25th 1893

Mrs. Leland Stanford

I trust
these few lines of condolence
will be received with kindness
I have watched your husbands
career with intense intrest
and approbation.

His heart must have beat
in unison with humanity
or he never would have
been so grandly generous.
Mr. Stanford is the "shining
light," among philanthropists
of the present century.
The world is poorer, since
loosing so good a man.
