Dear Madam:
This tribute from an overflowing heart, was written on the evening of the memorable day, but was laid aside, fearing it might seem obtrusive, or presumptious. Moved, however, by a sentence in Dr. Drummond's "The Greatest Thing in the World," it is now sent, in the hope that it may, by showing you how thoughtful on-lookers appreciated the day and the work, not be entirely unacceptable.

My Dear Mrs Stanford
Your most welcome note to my Mother, came to me, as Ma is still in San Francisco. I opened and read it and have sent it to her. I hope she will have the pleasure of seeing you while there.

Judge Allyn and I remember with a great deal of pleasure your visit to Tacoma four years ago when dear Senator Stanford was with you, we often speak of you. I wish you could come again this summer, can't you? We would be so glad to see you, the summers are so delightful here. I am sure you would enjoy it. for there are no friends like the old friends to me, new ones can never take their place. I realize it more and more when I occasionally visit dear old San Francisco and see its many changes, and every year, fewer of the "old friends" remaining. It is sad indeed. Frank, our only child, is at the Leland Stanford Jr University & likes it very much, he is just nineteen, is quite tall and weighs about one hundred and fifty, is very fond of athletics but has always been among the first in his classes, he is a member of the "Sigma Nu" and lives at the Fraternity House, he is a lovely, manly boy and a good boy. he graduated at St Matthews Hall (M Brewer's) San Mateo last year. I would like so very much to have Frank meet you dear Mrs Stanford and to have you see him, being such an old friend of mine & knowing me so many years ago, before I was
