My dear Mrs Stanford

Will it be convenient or agreeable to you to permit me to take luncheon with you on Wednesday or Thursday of this week?

Rev. Anna Shaw is back from the East - and is to speak on the 28th - On Sept. 10th we are to hold an opening meeting of our Suffrage Amendment campaign - at which not only Miss Shaw - but Mrs. Chapman both will speak - also the most popular orator of each of the political parties - and then - I am going to beg you

2 to give us the weight of your personal influence - by being present and sitting up on the platform - I not only want you but also Mrs Hearst and such other influential women as you shall suggest -

It is cruel for the women in position and power in California not to let the people know they stand with us - don't you not think so?

Sincerely and admiringly Susan B Anthony

My Dear Mrs Stanford

Both your telegram and note came yesterday - and made me feel that a hearty welcome awaited us - but as it now looks I shall go alone - since Miss Shaw has to lecture in Martens - and dear Mrs Sargent has an engagement - that will

My Dear Mrs Stanford

On arriving home - Mrs. Sargents - I learned that Mrs. Clara B Colby is to come over to help on the amendment

Therefore - may I ask you to grant a pass to Miss Harriet May Mills - that is give one to Miss Mills instead of to Mrs. Colby -- This and the one to Mrs Carrie Chapman Catt

[moving?] - instead of from here - but your courtesy enables me to go free of cost to the Campaign Committee so I rejoice - and go rejoicing -

With love and gratitude

Susan B Anthony

P.S. And good bye to Mrs. Lathrop and Miss Stanford - with my kind regards!
