The Armitage Orphanage

San Mateo, Calif., Dec, 1901

To the Friends of the Armitage Orphanage:

It has been the custom, for many years, to invite the friends of the Orphanage to make contributions for the boys' Christmas Tree. In sending out our letter, again this year, we make our appeal to you for money or other gifts, such as books, toys, pictures, clothing of all kinds, candy, nuts, raisins, fruit, also ornaments and candles for the tree. We can make no stronger plea for a generous response, than by reminding you that the 1 hundred and 78 boys at the Orphanage are without homes, and that this is their only Christmas celebration, A prompt reply is earnestly requested.

Mrs Stanford,

I wrote you last week but have not heard yet from you but I hope to hear soon from you. I am going to pray the Lord to convert your sole, so you will be able to do good to those who needs your assistence. The Lord has only loaned all this to you that you have and He expects to have a part back. So I am going to pray for you from this time, that He will help you to know that it is not all of life to live or all of death to die. I have [grape?] power in prayer, and if
