and pay rent as if some kind friend would give me twelve hundred dollars I could buy a nice home where I can rent rooms and that will help keep up the expenses and all the improvements. if I could only own a home where I can remain while I live and can have a place for my furniture I can manage to keep up well. in renting rooms if you want to know all about me I can give you plenty of the best of reference and you would not be sorry that you helped me in a home it is very hard for me to work out as I am not able as well as I can to do my own work. will you kindly write me and let me know if you can help me and send a letter to a register letter as I would like to keep this secret send to me personly. Mrs Stanford Kind Friend

I learn that you were a very kind to the charitable I am very sorry to say that I am left without a surport [sic] as my dear husband died of blood poison he was very ansious [sic] to leave me well provide and with a home before he died I am 59 years and have a little girl nine years I am ansious [sic] to have a home where she can have a better care and goto school I have plenty for to keep house with but not money to pay rent and live can I ask you if you can do me this kind favor as to give me three or four hundred dollars that will keep me in my home and liveing [sic] for one year

As I was reading in the news paper of your many charitable gifts I am going to ask for one more We are trying to build a church in the central part of the town we have bought a lot for the house and partly paid for it we have not got a wealthy church Most of them laborers if we could have twenty thousand dollars
