Mrs. Stanford,
San Francisco Cal.

Dear Madam,
Pardon me for taking the liberty
of adressing these lines to you on be
half of our Church, St. Paul's Eng. Luth
of Chicago, Ill. As you see our church
is an English Luth. Church. All its
services are conducted in the English
language. The majority of Lutherans
are either German or Skandinavian
and worship in these tongues. But their
young people and children desire to
worship God in the language of the land.
Our church is largely made up of these
young people and children. Our future
therefore is glorious. We have the flower
of the Church and land. But in the other
respects our difficulties at present
