lost my beloved only
son and only child just
as he was opening into
manhood - a lawsuit
some years ago deprived
me at once of my sole
income

My beloved son who
was my all in all took
typhoid fever - the Doctors
advising an Ocean voyage
as the only chance for
his life - we embarked
for Australia but
when he had been
six weeks at sea he
passed to the higher
life - and was buried
at sea. Why I am alive
after all sunshine left
my life I know not-

I took a serious illness
and when I was able
to be up - I became a
teacher of singing
having been trained
in Italy - I got many
pupils - and worked
on unaided for fifteen
years - but insomnia
brought on again a
severe illness - and I
had to come home -
I have alas! over and
over again starved
in England - finding
